Guayaquil, Ecuador – July 2012
The third meeting of the International Blue Carbon Policy Working Group in Ecuador brought together approximately 40 experts on climate change and coastal policy issues. Participants from Europe, Indonesia, Ghana, the United States, Brazil, Colombia, and Peru met with local experts and government officials to discuss Blue Carbon opportunities in Ecuador and Latin America.
This workshop reviewed policy developments and needs on Blue Carbon, particularly the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. Members also focused on implementing Blue Carbon in Ecuador’s policy frameworks and management activities in the country’s high carbon regions.
