Sydney, Australia – May 2013
The University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) hosted this meeting on May 15-17, 2013, which focused on blue carbon science and policy opportunities in Australia and the Coral Triangle region, in addition to seagrass research updates and modeling and mapping discussions. Coral Triangle discussions focused on scientific gaps and the region’s opportunities to leverage blue carbon for coastal conservation. On May 17, Drs. Neil Saintilan and Peter Ralph led tours of Towra Point and Silvers Beach in Botony Bay and presented an overview of the region’s tidal marsh and seagrass areas. The afternoon concluded with a visit to the UTS lab facilities.
